Closing in
The PSV Eindhoven striker found the net in his side's 3-1 defeat by Feyenoord yesterday to close the gap to RC Deportivo La Coruña forward Roy Makaay to just three points. With a multiplier of 1.5 given for each Eredivisie strike, three goals for Kežman in his next outing would take him 1.5 points clear, provided of course that Makaay has another barren day.
Still the favourite
However, as well as seeing all of his strikes doubled under the Golden Shoe system by virtue of the extra difficulty applied to Spain, Makaay has time on his side. Although he failed to score in the 2-1 defeat by Valencia CF on Saturday, he has another four matches before the end of the Primera División season. Kežman has just two more matches to add to his tally.
Elber on course
Elsewhere, FC Bayern München forward Giovane Elber kept his dream alive of finishing as the top scorer in Germany. His double in the 2-1 victory against VfB Stuttgart, kept him one ahead of VfL Bochum 1848's Thomas Christiansen and took him into the Golden Shoe top ten.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
