Haas happy
Staudt, an economist and former politician, is also set to become the head of the board if Stuttgart decide to become a public limited company. The 54-year-old, who sits on the board at computing company IBM, will replace Manfred Haas, who is happy with the switch. "This has always been intended and is my wish," said Haas. "It is essentially urgent that this post becomes a full-time office."
European ambition
The Bundesliga club have enjoyed a terrific season and look well-placed to take up a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League. They are third in Germany, four points ahead of Hamburger SV with just two matches left to play. On Saturday, Stuttgart travel to champions FC Bayern München before a home match on the last day against VfL Wolfsburg.
