Henry pledges future to Arsenal

Thierry Henry has signed a new deal at Arsenal FC that will keep him at Highbury until 2007.

Thierry Henry has signed a new three-year contract with Arsenal FC that will keep him at the Premiership side until 2007.

'I am delighted'
"I am delighted to pledge my future to this great club," the French international striker said. "I want to make it clear I am very happy to stay, which has always been the case. I will remain at Arsenal as long as they want to keep me."

Speculation ended
The 25-year-old was keen to dismiss speculation that he was considering a move away from Highbury. "I had heard one or two stories about me so I thought this was the time to sign," he said. "This club is so important to me."

Looking for more success
He was also adamant his decision had nothing to do with money. "I want to do well for this club both domestically and, hopefully, in Europe," Henry said. "I have enjoyed some good years at Arsenal and I want to give something back."

Goal haul
Henry joined Arsenal from Juventus FC in August 1999 for €14 million and scored 24 league goals this season but was unable to prevent Manchester United FC from securing the championship.

More good news
Fellow French internationals Patrick Vieira, the Arsenal captain, and Robert Pires are expected to follow Henry's example by renewing their contracts before the start of next season. Both players are due to open talks in the next month.
