'A lot to offer'
Saunders has stepped up from his role coaching the reserves at Ewood Park to assist manager Graeme Souness with the senior squad. "Dean has a lot to offer," Souness said.
'Step forward'
The 38-year-old worked with Souness during his playing days at Liverpool FC, Galatasaray SK and SL Benfica. "Hopefully I will be able to pass on some of my experience," he said. "I came to Blackburn as a player-coach, but have always wanted to concentrate on the coaching side. So this is another step forward for me."
Management material
Saunders, who also played for Aston Villa FC, was recently linked with the vacant manager's job at another of his previous clubs, Derby County FC. Blackburn will play in the UEFA Cup next season having finished sixth in the Premiership.
