Free transfer
Bremen sports director Klaus Allofs confirmed that the Bundesliga club have secured a two-year deal with the 34-year-old, who returns to his native Germany on a free transfer after several years spent playing abroad.
Competition for places
Reinke joins Bremen as a replacement for Polish keeper Jakub Wierzchowski whose contract has expired. With Pascal Borel having signed a three-year extension at the club last week, Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf expects the two players to compete for a first-team place next season.
Experienced campaigner
The new man has plenty of Bundesliga experience, having played for Hamburger SV in the 1991/92 campaign and then 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He stayed at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion until 2000, winning the 1996 German title, then moved to Greek side Iraklis FC before a transfer to Murcia in 2001.
European prospects
Currently fifth in the table, Bremen hope to book a place in Europe on the final day of the Bundesliga season this weekend. A win at struggling VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday would see them into the UEFA Cup, although Hertha BSC Berlin could pip them should they drop points on their travels.
