Article body
Hungarian First Division leaders Ferencvárosi TC remain on course for a domestic double after defeating Debreceni VSC 2-1 to lift the Hungarian Cup on Tuesday.
Szûcs error
Having played out a 1-1 draw with their opponents in the league on Saturday, the two sides matched each other blow for blow once again at the Ferenc Puskás stadium in Budapest. Debrecen took the lead two minutes before the interval when Ferencváros goalkeeper Lajos Szûcs misjudged a Dragan Vukmir backpass and turned the ball into his own net.
Tököli double
However, the Budapest side increased the tempo after the interval and international striker Attila Tököli equalised with a fine solo effort after 68 minutes. Tököli then made himself the hero for Ferencváros, scoring the winning goal 12 minutes from time to secure his side's 19th Hungarian Cup success.
Five points clear
Ferencváros will now be looking to add the league title to their cup victory and are currently five points clear of MTK Hungária FC at the top of the 1.Liga. Having finished fourth in the domestic standings last term, the club are now only five matches away from securing a 28th league title.
