Scoring frenzy
Slavia took full advantage of Sparta's defeat by FK Viktoria Zizkov 48 hours earlier with a dominant display capped by goals from Tomáš Došek, Karel Piták, Rudolf Skácel, Patrik Gedeon, Rudolf Dostálek, Štipán Vachoušek and Pavel Kuka. It was an afternoon to forget for new Baník coach Pavel Vrba as Slavia claimed the biggest win of the first division season.
Sparta stung
Sparta, meanwhile, were punished by two breakaway goals from Tomáš Oravec as they went down 2-0 at Prague rivals Viktoria Zizkov. It was Sparta's first defeat in eight games. The win allowed the home side to move three points clear of FC Slovan Liberec in the race for third place and UEFA Cup qualification.
European prize
The champions could only draw 1-1 at FK Chmel Blšany, Petr Papoušek's strike cancelling out Jakub Bureš's early goal for the team third from bottom of the 1. liga. With four rounds to go, Liberec trail Viktoria Zizkov by four points. FK Teplice's European hopes are all but over, however, after they lost 2-1 at FC Príbram - their fifth match without victory. Horst Siegl scored the deciding goal.
Bohemians agony
At the wrong end of the table, second-from-bottom CU Bohemians Praha remain seven points from safety following a 3-1 reverse at SK Sigma Olomouc, which was inflicted by two goals from Radim Kueera and another from David Rojka. Bohemians look likely to drop into the second division alongside SK Hradec Králové, who are two points further adrift after losing to a solitary Milan Pacanda goal at home against 1. FC Brno.
Relegation worries
However, FK Jablonec 97 eased their relegation worries after Jozef Weber's effort earned a 1-0 home win against SK Ceské Budéjovice. Leading the race for promotion to the First Division, meanwhile, are FK Viktoria Plzen and SFC Opava. Elsewhere, FC Zlín beat 1. FC Synot in a mid-table battle in Zlín.
