Torricelli extends Spanish stay

Italian defender Moreno Torricelli has signed a contract extension with Primera División side RCD Espanyol.

RCD Espanyol defender Moreno Torricelli has agreed to spend another season in Spain after signing a one-year contract extension.

Key man
The 33-year-old Italian joined the Catalan club as a free agent in January and has been a key man for coach Javier Clemente. Torricelli, who made his name over ten seasons with Serie A clubs Juventus FC and AC Fiorentina, had been out of contract following Fiorentina's demise the previous summer.

Plenty of experience
Torricelli made his debut on 2 February in the 2-2 home draw against Real Madrid CF. The former Italian international has since played 14 matches, enough to prove Clemente and the club that he was worth a new deal.
