Surprise defeats
Wisla are now four points clear at the top after second-placed Odra Wodzislaw suffered an unexpected 3-1 defeat against KS Górnik Zabrze. The game was 1-1 at half-time but goals after the interval from Adam Kompala and Madrin Piegzik secured a fine win for Gornik. Third-placed KS Groclin Grodzisk Wielkopolski also lost, falling 1-0 at Wisla Plock, with Nigerian Emmanuel Ekwueme scoring the only goal of the game.
Derby win for Legia
Elsewhere, Legia won the 40th Warsaw derby against KP Polonia Warszawa 1-0 thanks to a Marek Saganowski goal. KS Amica Wronki lost 2-1 against Garbarnia Szczakowianka Jaworzno to register their first away win of the season while two goals from Piotr Wlodarczyk gave Widzew Lódz three precious points as they beat relegation rivals Zaglebie Lubin 2-0.
Katowice win

Relegation format
At the end of the season the Ekstraklasa is being reduced from 16 to 14 teams. The bottom three in the division will be relegated, with Pogon and KSZO Ostrowiec already doomed. The teams who finish in 12th and 13th place will face the second and third-placed teams from the second division in relegation/promotion play-offs. Only one team from the second division will be promoted automatically.
