FC Banants have dismissed temporary coach Vazgen Hayrapetyan after losing in the Armenian Cup final.
Decisive goal
Armen Petikian's 88th-minute goal for FC MIKA in the final on Tuesday saw Banants lose 1-0 and Hayrapetyan was quickly removed from his post to be replaced by the club's vice-president, Hovhannes Zanazanyan, on a temporary basis.
Merry-go-round
Zanazanyan had coached FC Spartak Yerevan in 2002 but was ousted in favour of Banants' Armen Gyulbudagyants when the two clubs merged. However, when early results this season went against Banants, Gyulbudagyants resigned to be replaced by Hayrapetyan.
Short-term aims
Now Zanazanyan has taken centre stage but he was not convinced that he wanted the job on a permanent basis. "I agreed to coach the team temporarily and my first aim is to finish the first part of the championship in a good manner," he said. "Later, we will see, maybe the club will bring in a foreign coach."
First win
After 31 May, Zanazanyan will have an extra fortnight to work with his players as there is a two-week break in the championship as Armenia prepare for their UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying game against Ukraine.
