De Graafschap coach Peter Bosz has been sacked after the club were relegated from the Eredivisie.

De Graafschap have sacked coach Peter Bosz in the wake of yesterday's relegation from the Dutch Eredivisie.

Frustrations boil over
Capped eight times by the Netherlands, Bosz took charge of De Graafschap in June 2002 after leading AGOVV Apeldoorn to the amateur Dutch title. However, the club suffered a 2-1 defeat at FC Zwolle yesterday which ended their survival hopes. Frustrations boiled over when Bosz and defender Rene Bot were both shown red cards in the final ten minutes.

Relegation 'justified'
Bosz, a former Feyenoord player, speculated about his possible departure from the club after the game. "This relegation is justified, we are the worst team in the Eredivisie," said the 39-year-old. "You can only conclude that I have failed as coach."

Chairman's goal
De Graafschap chairman Derk Haank confirmed Bosz's departure, adding: "We agreed this months ago. For a new start [we need] a new face. Who that face will be is not known yet. Our goal is to immediately return to the highest level. The squad will stay intact and will be reinforced. If someone is sold, then the whole amount will be spent on new players."
