Contract until 2006
The German Under-20 international midfield player has joined from local rivals FC St. Pauli, who have just been relegated to the German third division after a second successive demotion. Meier has agreed a contract until 2006.
High expectation
"He is a player that I expect to make it in the Bundesliga very quickly," said Hamburg technical director Dietmar Beiersdorfer. Hamburg will play in the UEFA Cup after finishing fourth in the Bundesliga.
