German delight
Sverkos is earmarked as a replacement for Mikael Forssell, who has returned to Premiership side Chelsea FC after a successful loan spell, and Mönchengladbach sporting director Ewald Lienen said: "He is a very promising young player. A lot of clubs were after him so we are delighted he has decided to join us."
Teen sensation
Under-20 international Sverkos was the revelation of the Czech season, scoring 14 league goals in his first full campaign. He said: "Borussia are well known in the Czech Republic and that is why I wanted to join. I am ready to prove that my goals in the Czech league were no fluke."
'A big loss'
Sverkos becomes Mönchengladbach's fifth summer buy after Bradley Carnell, Pascal Ojigwe, Joonas Kolkka and Oliver Kirch. However, the transfer is a blow to new Baník coach Frantisek Komnacký, who has already seen Martin Lukes leave for SK Slavia Praha. "He will be a big loss to us," Komnacký said.
