Second signing
The 32-year-old goalkeeper follows midfield player Carsten Fredgaard in joining the Copenhagen club, who are changing their name to FC Nordsjælland from the start of next season. Hoffmann will move to Farum at the end of the current league season.
Clean sheet record
Hoffmann, a member of Denmark's squad in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, holds the record for clean sheets in Denmark, after preventing opponents from scoring for 680 consecutive minutes in the 2000/01 season. However, he has been largely confined to the substitutes' bench this season and has made only three league appearances for AB.
'A lot of potential'
The goalkeeper is relishing his new challenge. "I am really looking forward to playing with Farum, where I see a lot of potential," he said. "Furthermore I am happy to play under [coach] Christian Andersen again, as I appreciated him a lot when he was in charge at AB."
Mutual respect
Farum were equally delighted to secure the services of a goalkeeper who has a wealth of experience. "Looking ahead to 20 Superligaen games in the autumn alone - plus the possibility of UEFA Cup matches too - we have been looking for an experienced goalkeeper, and we have definitely got one by signing Jan Hoffmann," said Farum vice president Allan Pedersen. "I am convinced that Jan is very hungry for action after time on the bench at AB, and I am sure he will become a great asset to the team and to the club."
Final day drama
Farum currently lie in third place in the league table with one match, at home to Viborg FF, left to play. Andersen's side are currently on 48 points, one ahead of Esbjerg fB, and need a final-day victory to guarantee third position and with it a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
