'This was my farewell'
Minutes after a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of third-placed PFC Litex Lovech, Dimitrov, nicknamed 'Hero', announced that he was departing. "This was my farewell," he said. "I am leaving the team because of family problems. I have to return to Burgas, where I will be able to take care of my wife and children. I have been away from my family for seven years. I would like to thank Lokomotiv's chairman, Georgi Iliev, for showing understanding and letting me go.
No contract
"I don't have a contract with another club and it is highly probable that some time [will] pass before I coach again," Dimitrov added when asked whether he would return to his former club PFC Naftex Burgas.
Zhelyazkov suggestion
Dimitrov also revealed that he believes his assistant Aleksi Zhelyazkov should succeed him at Lokomotiv. "I think that such a succession would be the best possibility for Lokomotiv," he said. "It is Georgi Iliev's call now." Despite Dimitrov's suggestion, no successor has yet been appointed.
Former clubs
The 44-year-old Dimitrov has also coached PFC Naftex Burgas, PFC Litex Lovech, PFC Levski Sofia and PFC Velbazhd Kyustendil, as well as the Bulgarian national team.
