Legend returns to Lokomotiv

PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv legend Eduard Eranosyan has been named as the club's new coach.

'A club legend'
A hero in his playing days at the club, the 39-year-old will complete his deal with Lokomotiv once he returns from holiday in Turkey. "Eranosyan will sign a three-year long contract in a few days," said Lokomotiv managing director Emil Nakov. "He is a club legend and is the option for us."

Quick agreement
Eranosyan started the season as coach of Premier League minnows PFC Dobrudzha Dobrich, and was itching to return to his old club. "Emil Nakov called me and it took us only two minutes to agree all the details," said Eranosyan. "I have always dreamed of coaching Lokomotiv in the top-flight. I have my ambitions and it would have been stupid not to accept such a proposal."

Backroom staff
Dimitrov stepped down from his post as coach for family reasons, and had nominated his old assistant Aleksi Zhelyazkov to take over in his place, but Nakov decided that Eranosyan would be a more appropriate choice. Ivan Marinov will be Eranosyan's assistant, while Lyubomir Sheytanov will coach the goalkeepers.

'My own ideas'
Lokomotiv finished sixth in the league in 2002/03, with Dimitrov gaining considerable praise, but Eranosyan was not overawed at replacing him. "I am not afraid of being compared to 'Hero' [Dimitrov]," he said. "Of course, he is one of the best young Bulgarian coaches. He did a lot for the club and I will try to preserve all the good things that he did for the club, and add a few of my own ideas."
