Siena pair survive accident

Members

AC Siena's Taddei and Pinga were involved in a car crash which claimed the life of Taddei's brother.

En route to airport
Leonardo Ferrante Taddei, the 21-year-old brother of the Siena attacking midfield player, was killed when the car the men were travelling in crashed en route to Milan's Malpensa airport, following a puncture. They had been on their way back to Brazil for a holiday.

In hospital
The two players were both still in hospital today. Taddei, 23, who is the more seriously injured of the pair, was in intensive care until last night, although his condition has since improved.

Serie B champions
Siena have just won promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history, winning the Serie B title, and the two Brazilians played an instrumental part in their success. Pinga, a 22-year-old forward who was on loan from Torino Calcio, scored seven goals in 33 matches.
