Gregersen accepts OB deal

Odense BK have signed Farum defender Jacob Gregersen after an impressive season in the Superliga.

'Too far apart'
The 30-year-old has signed a one-year contract with OB starting on 1 July after he failed to agree an extension with the club from the north of Copenhagen. "Our valuations were too far apart," Gregersen told uefa.com.

Defensive reinforcement
Instead, Odense coach Uffe Pedersen was able to welcome the centre-back into his squad. "Jacob Gregersen can add experience, physical strength and an aerial presence to our defence," he said. "That is just what we need, especially in a situation where Jan Sonksen is out for most of the autumn with an achilles injury and veteran Torben Sangild is close to retiring."

Championship material
Gregersen himself said he was "really looking forward" to moving from the capital to the island of Funen and "playing for OB - a team with the potential to become a top side in Danish football in the future".

Key player
The former FC Groningen man will be missed at Farum, where his defensive nous was one of the reasons behind the club's survival in their first season in the Superliga. Nicknamed 'Gaxe', Gregersen is OB's fourth summer signing following the arrivals of midfield players Steen Nedergaard from Norwich City FC and Martin Borre from Køge BK, and American goalkeeper Matt Jordan.
