Bench duty
Five days before Leiria take on FC Porto for the Taça de Portugal, Cajuda - one of the Super Liga's most experienced coaches - revealed that he is to replace the Ukrainian Anatoly Byshovets on the bench at Marítimo.
Fine season
After seeing Cajuda take Leiria to fifth place in the league as well as the cup final, Marítimo chairman Carlos Pereira said expectations would be high of the coach-elect: "This year he achieved fifth place and a cup final for Leiria. That is what I ask, and I hope we can do even better."
Aiming high
Cajuda himself said: "It is good for the club that we have high objectives. My philosophy is that if I have to die, it should be for a great goal and not a mediocre one. I would like to achieve a league position similar to those I have achieved in recent seasons with Leiria and [SC] Braga."
As well as the current successful campaign with Leiria, Cajuda also managed fourth-place finishes with Braga in 1996/97 and 2000/01. He will win his first major trophy as a coach if Leiria beat champions Porto on Sunday. Marítimo finished the season in seventh position and parted company with former Russia coach Byshovets last week.
