Leczna clinch Ekstraklasa berth

Members

GKS Górnik Leczna claimed a place in the Ekstraklasa after a 3-1 aggregate victory over Zaglebie Lubin.

Klimek on target
Leading 1-0 from the first leg, Leczna started brightly but Zaglebie levelled matters when Arkadiusz Klimek headed in from close range. Klimek and Brasilia then wasted golden opportunities for the side that finished in 12th position in the top flight, and Leczna took control after the interval.

Joy for Leczna
The 28-year-old midfield player Pawel Bugala, who scored the only goal in the first leg last week, found the net twice with long-range efforts in Lubin to seal his side's first-ever promotion to the Poland's top division.

Garbarnia victorious
Garbarnia Szczakowianka Jaworzno, who finished 13th in the first division table, secured their Ekstraklasa status with a 3-0 victory over Swit Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Garbarnia controlled the return match and clinched a fully-deserved 3-1 aggregate win.

Kubisz inspires
Swit defender Michal Karwan found his own net to open the scoring just before half-time, before Marek Kubisz became the hero for the home side after the interval. His shot from outside the box forced Swit goalkeeper Boris Peskovic to parry and Krzysztof Przytula scored from close range, before Maciej Iwanski clinched victory six minutes from time with a powerful shot from ten metres.

Season over
Iwanski's goal was last of the season, as this match completed this season's Ekstraklasa. Gornik Polkowice and Leczna were promoted from the second division, while Pogon Szczecin, KSZO Ostrowiec, KS Ruch Chorzów and Zaglebie Lubin were relegated as the top flight was cut from 16 to 14 clubs.
