FC Dynamo Kyiv are expected to win their tenth Ukrainian title on Wednesday after they beat FC Arsenal Kyiv in the capital derby and fellow hopefuls FC Shakhtar Donetsk drew at FC Tavriya Simferopol in the penultimate round of matches.
Leading scorer Dynamo's leading scorer, Maxim Shatskikh, took his tally this season to 20 goals when he scored after 73 minutes to settle a tense derby against Arsenal. UEFA Cup chase Three teams remain in contention for two UEFA Cup berths heading into the final matches of the season. FC Metalurh Donetsk reached 57 points by beating FC Olexandria 1-0, leapfrogging Arsenal in the process and climbing to third.
Level on points FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk remain fifth but moved level on points with Arsenal by beating FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih 3-0. Wednesday's matches see Metalurh take on FC Obolon Kyiv and Dnipro challenging FC Volyn Lutsk.
