Belarus agreement signed

An agreement has been signed with the aim of normalising the football situation in Belarus.

The agreement was signed in Zurich on Tuesday by representatives of the world and European football governing bodies FIFA and UEFA, as well as the Belarus sports and tourism minister Yuri Sivakov and officials of the Belarus Football Federation (BFF), in order to solve the problems that have arisen within the Belarus FA due to the election of senior officials who were not recognised by the international football bodies.

Federov president
Under the agreement, Gregori Fedorov remains the recognised BFF president, and will represent Belarussian football at international level. He will also be responsible for management of financial matters related to FIFA and UEFA assistance, and will remain in his position until all points of the agreement are fulfilled.

Statutes review
The BFF will also review its statutes in accordance with FIFA and UEFA requirements, and further discussions will be held with the world and European bodies by the end of next month. The association will organise an extraordinary general assembly by the end of August at the latest to approve the statutes, which must also comply with Belarus national legislation.

General assembly
By 15 October at the latest, the BFF also undertakes to organise a second extraordinary general assembly to ratify officers to the statutory bodies who were elected during the association's general assembly in March. As a result, the officers will receive official recognition at international level. New elections will be called within 30 days if the October assembly does not ratify the appointment of the elected officers.

Breach of agreement
FIFA and UEFA will be entitled to take any measures provided for in their statutes if the agreement is breached in any of its points.
