Article body
PFC Litex Lovech will sign one of the most talented players in F.Y.R. Macedonia, Robert Popov, and Bosnian striker Emir Obuca subject to medicals.
Recent surgery
The 21-year-old Popov will join from FK Belasica GC on a five-year contract provided he recovers fully from recent knee surgery. "I know that Litex are a very good team," said Popov, who will "play as a right-sided defender". It was in such a role that he impressed in the 2-2 UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying match against England in Southampton. Popov was named Macedonian Footballer of the Year in 2001 and 2002.
Powerful forward
Obuca, 24, is also on the verge of a move to Bulgaria from NK Željeznicar in Sarajevo. He will sign a four-year contract and his new coach, Ferario Spasov, hopes Obuca's power "will solve our problems up front". The 25-year-old Russian forward Eugeni Landyrev has begun training after arriving from Latvian side FK Ventspils. Litex will play CSF Zimbru Chisinau of Moldova in UEFA Cup qualifying.
