Sandklef setback for Göteborg

Members

IFK Göteborg midfield player Mikael Sandklef is out for six weeks with an arm injury.

No break
The extent of the injury was confirmed by Göteborg doctor Leif Swärdh after the final whistle of the 1-1 home draw that left both teams looking over their shoulder at the wrong end of the table. "It's not as bad as it could have been," Swärdh said. "His elbow is out of joint and he's also got a fracture in the arm, but it is not too serious, which is a relief."

Coach staying positive
Sandklef, 29, has played an important role for Göteborg this season but coach Bosse Johansson refused to dwell on the disappointment. "We'll sort it out," Johansson said. "It's a shame because Mikael is a very good player, but we've got a good squad and this will give other players a chance to prove their worth."

Another blow
Defender Mikael Antonsson was also injured in the game and will be out for up to two weeks with a thigh strain. Göteborg are tenth in the 14-team Allsvenskan, one place above Sundsvall.
