Straight into training
Nygaard joins from Dutch club SC Excelsior, who were relegated from the Eredivise this season. The 26-year-old will begin pre-season training immediately as Brescia prepare for their Intertoto Cup second-round tie in the first weekend of July against either Welsh club Bangor City FC or Romania's CF Gloria 1922 Bistrita.
Baggio partnership
"I prefer to skip my holidays this year because I want to meet my new team-mates and the coach as soon as possible," said Nygaard, who has been capped nine times by Denmark and joined Excelsior in 2002 from Roda JC. He is likely to line up alongside Roberto Baggio, with Albanian striker Igli Tare transfer-listed.
New deals
Meanwhile, Brescia have also confirmed the permanent signing of Matuzalém from Parma AC. The midfield player made 30 Serie A appearances for Brescia last season on loan. The club, who appointed Giovanni De Biasi as coach earlier this month, have also handed a new two-year contract to 28-year-old defender Fabio Petruzzi.
