Club Atlético Osasuna goalkeeper Juan Carlos Unzué will retire at the end of the current Spanish season.

Club Atlético Osasuna goalkeeper Juan Carlos Unzué has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.

Much-travelled goalkeeper
Unzué first appeared for Osasuna 1986/87. Two years later he moved to FC Barcelona but found first-team opportunities hard to come by, prompting a switch to Sevilla FC in 1990/91. In seven seasons Unzué made 222 appearances for Sevilla, before spending two years with both CD Tenerife and Real Oviedo prior to returning to Osasuna in 2001/02.

Farewell games
Having spent most of the Primera División season on the substitute's bench, Unzué will start both of Osasuna's final two games with the club's top-flight status assured. "I would like to thank all the team for the confidence they have shown in me," said Unzué. "It is the right moment to finish my career; I am proud of what I have achieved."
