A 3-0 win against FH Hafnarfjördur left Fylkir at the top of the table after four games.

A 3-0 win against FH Hafnarfjördur sees Fylkir at the top of the Icelandic Premier League table after four games.

Petursson on target
In a match played on Sunday, defender Gunnar Thor Petursson had another excellent day after scoring his first ever Icelandic league goal against Grindavík in the second game of the season. A second goal direct from a free-kick doubled his tally against FH with goals from Haukur Ingi Gudnason and Ólafur Ingi Skúlason completing the scoring.

Shock defeat
The win took Fylkir at the top of the table after KR Reykjavík dropped three points with a shock 3-0 defeat against KA Akureyri. KA climbed into second place as Palmi Rafn Palmason's 35th-minute opener and two late strikes from striker Hreinn Hringsson saw them overcome the reigning champions.

Valur foiled
Valur started the round in third place but are concerned history may be repeating itself after they fell to a second consecutive defeat - a 1-0 reversal against Thróttur Reykjavik, with Danish player Sören Hermansen scoring the only goal after 15 minutes.

Thróttur on the rise
Two years ago, Valur started their campaign with wins in their opening two games, only to go on to be relegated after a disastrous slump in form. They won their first two games this season too, but their form is dipping alarmingly. Thróttur, meanwhile, are on the up having won their last two.

Two for Thorvaldsson
Grindavík are also on the slide after a 2-0 home defeat against ÍBV Vestmannæyjar. Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson proved to be their tormentor as he scored in the 36th and 90th minutes to take his season's tally to four in four games. Fram Reykjavík remain at the foot of the table after a goalless draw against ÍA Akranes.
