Members

An R. Antwerp FC favourite in the 1970s, René Desaeyere has been named as the Belgian club's new coach.

René Desaeyere has been named as the new coach of R. Antwerp FC, succeeding Henk Houwaart who was not offered a new contract at the end of the Belgian season.

Previous jobs
The 55-year-old has signed a one-year contract at the Bosuilstadion after failing to lead FC Denderleeuw into the top flight via the promotion play-offs. Desaeyere has previously coached leading Belgian clubs KRC Genk and R. Standard de Liège in addition to spells in Japan and the Korean Republic.

'Big challenge'
An Antwerp player between 1971 and 1977, during which time he played over 350 matches, Desaeyere said: "Finally I am the coach of my club and it feels great. It is a big challenge but one which is really interesting."
