Article body
Olexandr Ischenko has resigned as coach of FC Kryvbas Kryviy Rih coach after his ten-month contract with the Ukrainian club expired.
Meeting with chairman
The 50-year-old arrived at Kryvbas last September, replacing the sacked Ihor Nadein. Ischenko, a former Ukraine Under-21 coach, said: "My contract has run out, and at the meeting with chairman Serhiy Polischuk we decided not to prolong it.
Expectations not met
"Both sides thought it would be the best decision. I am unhappy with the way the team played after winter break. Yes, we have stayed up, but we finished only 12th despite being seventh before the break. We could not fulfil our expectations". Ischenko's coaching CV also includes FC Zirka Kirovohrad, FC Nyva Vinnytsa and FC Tavriya Simferopol.
Replacement unknown
It is unclear who will take over at Kryvbas, who start the new season on 9 July with an away game at FC Karpaty Lviv. Ischenko's resignation makes him the 12th coaching casualty of the 2002/03 season in Ukraine, a record figure.
