Steinar Gudgeirsson has been appointed coach of Símadeildin side Fram Reyjavík until the end of the season.

Slow start
Gudgeirsson, a former player with the club, replaces Kristinn R. Jonsson, whose contract was terminated after Fram began the new Icelandic Premier League season with two draws and two defeats in their opening four matches. The club currently lie bottom of the table.

Experienced international
The 32-year-old lawyer spent his entire 12-year playing career with Fram, winning 36 international caps in the process, before his retirement two years ago. In addition to serving on Fram's board, he also coached the club's youth sides and was a key figure within the Football Association of Iceland.

Temporary appointment
Fram chairman Finnur Thorlacius said that, regardless of the results, Gudgeirsson would only be in charge until the end of the league season in September and the club would not be making his appointment permanent.
