Former Moldova coach Alexandr Matiura has taken charge of FC Tiraspol following the departure of Igor Nakonechny to city rivals FC Sheriff Tiraspol.

Famous player
Matiura also made his mark as a player in Moldova, making 310 appearances and scoring 43 goals during two spells with FC Nistru Chisinau in 1974 and between 1977 and 1987. He also played for SKA Odessa, FC Tekstilshik Tiraspol and FC Zarea Baltsi.
Coaching career
Matiura studied at the Moscow school of coaching between 1990 and 1991 and he went on to lead Zarea, FC Speranta Nisporeni, FC Codru Calaras, FC Tiligul Tiraspol, FC Constructorul Chisinau and Nistru. As a coach he has won two Moldovan Cups - with Tiligul in 1994/95 and Chisinau in 1995/96 - and one league title with Chisinau in 1996/97. He has also coached the Moldovan national team at senior and Under-21 level.
