Di Natale commits to Empoli

Members

Antonio Di Natale has ended speculation about his future by renewing his contract with Empoli FC.

Plenty of interest
The 25-year-old, who scored 13 goals in his first season in Serie A, had been linked with the likes of Internazionale FC and Parma AC but has decided to stay with the Tuscany-based club until 2007. Despite being injured twice during the campaign, which limited him to just 26 appearances, Di Natale was instrumental as his side consolidated their top-flight place.

High hopes
Speaking before the contract renewal, Di Natale told the club's official website that he was keen to stay. He said: "I want to make history with Empoli and score 20 goals in Serie A."

International class
Di Natale, who has spent four seasons in the Empoli first team, was rewarded for his excellent form with a call-up to the Italy squad. The Naples-born striker has already played three matches for the Azzurri. His first international appearance came in last November's 1-1 friendly draw with Turkey.
