Slovakian champions MŠK Zilina claimed the Super Cup with a 2-0 defeat of ŠKM Púchov.

MŠK Zilina completed their preparations for the new Slovakian season by claiming the Super Cup with a 2-0 defeat of ŠKM Púchov.

Early advantage
The champions were largely in control throughout the match, and took the lead after 16 minutes as midfield player Marek Bažík found the target. Púchov, last season's Slovensky Pohár winners, struggled to find a way back into the match, and fell further behind a minute before the hour as Zilina captain Branislav Labant doubled his side's lead.

Zilina hold on
Púchov's challenge was effectively ended by the 75th-minute dismissal of defender Peter Čvirik for a second bookable offence, and Zilina held on to secure the trophy ahead of the start of the league season next week.
