The top-of-the-table game between leaders FC Flora and FC TVMK Tallinn ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Friday's top-of-the-table game between Meistriliiga leaders FC Flora and FC TVMK Tallinn ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Two-point lead
The result enabled Flora to preserve their two-point lead at the head of the standings, but they needed three goals in a remarkable final 13 minutes to salvage an unlikely point. TVMK took the lead inside the first ten minutes, as Andrei Krõlov opened the scoring with a stunning volley.

Commanding lead
The leaders struggled to get on level terms, and fell further behind as Ingemar Teever's calm finish rounded off a swift counterattack. Flora reduced the deficit 40 seconds into the second period as Tor Henning Hamre headed into the net, but further goals from Maksim Smirnov and Krõlov again seemed to have earned TVMK three points that would have moved the home side top of the league.

Thrilling finish
However, Lithuanian defender Tomas Sirevicius's 77th-minute header gave Flora hope, and when 17-year-old Ragnar Klavan scored on his first appearance five minutes from time, Flora were right back in the game. The away side's relentless pressure finally paid off three minutes into injury time as substitute Taavi Rähn scored a dramatic equaliser.

Gap closed
Third-placed FC Levadia Maardu closed the gap on the top two with a narrow 3-2 win against FC Levadia Tallinn, but remained 13 points behind Flora at the top of the table.

Valga denied again
Meanwhile, newly-promoted FC Valga came close to securing their first league win of the season, twice leading away to JK Tulevik Viljandi only to draw 3-3, with Aleksandr Kulik scoring a hat-trick for the home side, and JK Trans Narva were comfortable 3-0 winners against ten-man FC Kuressaare.
