Finishing at the top
Winterburn, part of Arsenal's famous back four of the late 1980s and 1990s, was released by West Ham at the end of last season after 17 years as a professional. "At 39 I don't think I'm capable of playing in the Premier League any longer," Winterburn said on Wednesday. "I always said I would like to finish at the top."
Long-serving defenders
He helped Arsenal win the English league title in 1989, 91 and 98 as well as a number of cup competitions, forming the cornerstone of the side with fellow defenders Lee Dixon, Tony Adams and Steve Bould.
