Molde FK captain Daniel Berg Hestad has joined Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen.

Delayed transfer
The 27-year-old midfield player has signed a three-and-a-half year contract. Molde did not receive a transfer fee for Hestad, who has spent all his professional career at the Norwegian side, making 253 appearances and scoring 55 goals. However, the player will remain with the club until the season ends in October.

'Right time to leave'
"I have been thinking about this a lot over the last few days and realised that, if I was ever going to leave Molde, this was the right time," Hestad said. The Norwegian international had spent the last few days with Heerenveen, negotiating personal terms before undergoing a medical prior to completing the move.

'Very ambitious'
"I could have waited and hoped for a bigger club," Hestad said. "Heerenveen are not a big club, but are very ambitious. I am very impressed with them as they seem very serious. The stadium is packed with 14,500 every week, and work has started on a new 28,000-capacity stadium. I am really looking forward to this."
