Genk loan
The 27-year-old Suzuki will link up with the Belgian top-flight newcomers after he finishes the J-League season with Kashima Antlers FC on 26 July. The forward is familiar with football in Belgium, having played on loan at KRC Genk last season.
Coach thrilled
Heusden-Zolder moved for Suzuki after establishing contact through their new Japanese sponsors. Club coach Peter Balette welcomed the transfer, claiming it was a big step forward for the team. "This is a transfer that until now I could only dream about," he said. "Normally something like this would not have been possible for a club like ours."
International experience
Suzuki played four times for Japan in the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. The 1.82m-tall player has scored four goals in 15 international appearances.
