Three days after leaving Akademisk Boldklub, Ove Christensen has returned to coaching, taking up a position at Viborg FF.
Viborg return
Christensen, who enjoyed a success spell during four years in charge of the club in the late 1990s, left AB on Wednesday, and succeeds Benny Lennartsson at his new club. The Sweden coach guided Viborg to top-flight safety having taken over from Søren Kusk in April, but elected to his homeland for personal reasons.
'Too late'
"AB offered me a contract extension, but their offer simply came too late," said Christensen. "I left because I went on losing players, with Sammy Youssouf and Mohamed Zidan, both wonderful players, being just two."
Reinforcements required
However, Christensen, who has signed a two-year contract, is aware of the challenge that lies ahead at his new club. "We will need at least three new players - a defender, a midfielder, and a striker," he said. Viborg finished in eighth place in the twelve-team Superligaen last season.
