Wolfsburg snap up D'Alessandro

VfL Wolfsburg have signed Andres D'Alessandro from CA River Plate for a club record fee of €9m.

Five-year contract
The 22-year old midfield player, who has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga side, is expected to fill the midfield void left by Stefan Effenberg's premature departure from the club in April. D'Alessandro has won three caps for Argentina.

Part of the package
Wolfsburg, who face PFC Marek Dupnitza in the second leg of the UEFA Intertoto Cup second round on Saturday night, have also acquired the services of two promising 19-year-olds, striker Gaston Fernandez and midfield player Juan Carlos Mensequez, as part of the deal.
