Early setback
The champions had to come from behind after young midfield player Yannick Vervalle gave Belgian Cup winners La Louvière an early lead. But Brugge were back on level terms 13 minutes into the second period through Slovenian international Nastja Ceh.
Penalty drama
The home team then went close to winning the game in normal time as Andrés Mendoza's shot rebounded off the crossbar. With no extra time the match went straight to penalties, and La Louvière captain Thierry Siquet was the only player to fail as Brugge won 5-4 in the shoot-out.
