UEFA has ruled that teams from Israel cannot stage European competition matches on home soil for the time being, but the situation will be reviewed again in October.

Monaco talks
European football's governing body said on Friday that the UEFA Emergency Panel had come to the decision after discussing the issue in Monaco, where UEFA activities are taking place to herald the start of the new season.

Policy maintained
A UEFA statement said: "Following a detailed evaluation the Panel decided to maintain the current policy of requiring such games to be played at a venue outside of the country." UEFA's Emergency Panel is empowered to take urgent decisions between regular meetings of the UEFA Executive Committee.

Regular monitoring
UEFA has been reviewing the security situation on a regular basis for more than a year, since advising that European games should not be played in Israel. Recent intensive discussions have also taken place between UEFA, the Israel Football Association and senior Israeli political figures.
