The Porto-based club have paid €300,000 for a player who was the SuperLiga's top scorer last season with 18 goals. As part of the deal, Boavista forward João Paulo, 23, will spend the coming campaign on loan at Beira-Mar.
End of an era
Fary, who has penned a three-year contract with the option of a fourth term, made his farewell appearance for the Aveiro club in a pre-season friendly against UD Leiria. Afterwards he said: "I have cried a lot. This is a club where I have played for five seasons but everything must come to an end and this chapter in my life is now closed.
Boavista wish
"Boavista are the club I always wanted and when the [Beira-Mar] chairman told me that Boavista had made one of three offers on the table, I told him that would be my option" Fary, 29, will replace Elpídeo Silva, who has joined Sporting Clube de Portugal, in the Boavista attack. In five seasons at Beira-Mar, he scored 54 goals in 127 games.
