Li Tie deal
Everton FC have signed Chinese international Li Tie on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The midfield player enjoyed an impressive season on loan at Goodison Park in 2002/03 and has now completed a permanent transfer from Chinese side Liaoning Bodao.
Gemmill injury
Another Everton midfield player, Scot Gemmill, will miss the first month of the season after tearing a thigh muscle in training. The Scottish international will be unavailable for his country's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Germany next month.
Keller out for a month
Eintracht Frankfurt captain Jens Keller will be missing for at least four weeks after damaging cartilage in his left knee during the 2-1 defeat by Bayer 04 Leverkusen last weekend. The central defender lasted just six minutes of Eintracht's first home match back in the Bundesliga after feeling a sharp pain in the knee.
Zwolle take Takak
PSV Eindhoven midfield player Jasar Takak will spend this season on loan at FC Zwolle after a successful week-long trial. "Taklak has made a positive impression on the coaching staff during training and in matches," said an official statement by Zwolle. The 21-year-old has a contract at PSV until the summer of 2005.
