UEFA is opening a disciplinary investigation into allegations of racial abuse against Wales players in their national team's UEFA EURO 2004™ and European Under-21 Championship matches against Serbia and Montenegro this week.
Two matches
European football's governing body said the Football Association of Wales had reported to UEFA that a number of Welsh players had suffered racial abuse at the two matches.
September meeting
UEFA said that both cases would be dealt with by its Control and Disciplinary Body at its next plenary meeting on 11 September. Serbia and Montenegro won the EURO 2004™ qualifier 1-0 in Belgrade on Wednesday, while their Under-21 team beat their Welsh counterparts 3-0 in Novi Sad the previous day.
