'Not dissatisfied'
"Emile told us he didn't want to play for Schalke any more and we have no use for people like that," Schalke general manager Rudi Assauer said. He declined to reveal the financial details of the transfer but added: "We are not dissatisfied."
Injury problems
The 25-year-old Mpenza, who has been out of action for the past six weeks with a muscle injury, moved to Schalke from the Belgian side in 2000 for a club record €8.5m. He scored 28 goals in 79 games for the Gelsenkirchen club but missed much of the last two seasons due to injury and was briefly dropped from the squad in 2001.
