Ümit Turmus resigned as coach of Elazigspor after the 4-3 home defeat by Adanaspor on Sunday.

Ümit Turmus resigned as coach of Elazigspor following the 4-3 home defeat by Adanaspor AS in the Turkish Super League on Sunday.

Board disappointment
Turmus, 43, led Elazigspor to an impressive 3-2 away win against Gençlerbirligi on the first day of the season but subsequent results - a scoreless draw against Konyaspor plus a 7-1 defeat by Fenerbahçe SK - disappointed the board.

Resignation accepted
Elazigspor president Baki Aydin said: "Ümit Turmus handed in his resignation at a meeting after the Adanaspor game. We were not satisfied with the state of the team after four weeks and accepted the decision. The display against Adanaspor was very poor. We made a lot of mistakes and lost three important points at home."

'Ongoing negotiations'
Aydin, however, added that fans need not be concerned. "We will be doing the best for Elazigspor," he said. "We are involved in ongoing negotiations with various coaches." Elazigspor, who face bottom club Akçaabat Sebatspor next weekend, lie in 12th place in the standings after four games.
