RKC Waalwijk's impressive start to the season continued on Sunday as they cruised to a 3-0 victory at home against FC Volendam to stay top of the Dutch Eredivisie.
Light work
Rick Hoogendorp scored twice and Iwan Redan grabbed his fourth goal of the season to wrap up the win inside the first half-hour. Waalwijk have now collected a maximum nine points from three games.
Pienaar decisive
AFC Ajax, in second place on goal difference, sealed a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over visitors FC Zwolle. The home team were indebted to South African Steven Pienaar's 32nd-minute goal in a match in which Czech international Zdenek Grygera left the pitch on a stretcher after a collision with Georgi Hristov.
Buffel winner
Feyenoord, in fifth spot, needed an injury-time goal to edge past NAC Breda 2-1 at the De Kuip stadium. The away side took the lead through Anouar Diba midway through the first half. Mariano Bombarda equalised after 83 minutes and, deep into added time, Belgian international Thomas Buffel headed the winner.
Easy win
Champions PSV Eindhoven, meanwhile, eased to a 2-0 victory at FC Twente on Saturday to stay third. Mateja Kezman put his side ahead in the 18th minute with a superb lob and Danish international Dennis Rommedahl doubled the lead 13 minutes later.
Off the mark
Also on Saturday, RBC Roosendaal collected their first three points of the campaign by seeing off Roda JC 2-0. Sammy Youssouf's 18th-minute goal opened the scoring and Bjorn Daelemans made sure a minute from time.
Maiden points
Paul Matthijs gave FC Groningen an early lead against ADO Den Haag and Glenn Salmon sealed a 2-0 success with a late second. NEC Nijmegen picked up their first points of the season at FC Utrecht courtesy of Resit Schuurman's winner three minutes before the break.
First defeat
Elsewhere, SC Heerenveen slipped to their first defeat when they lost 2-0 at Willem II - Anouar Hadouir and Dimitri Shoukov struck the home side's goals - and SBV Vitesse are still without a point after three games following a 2-1 reverse against AZ Alkmaar.
