Grönhagen to leave Elfsborg

Members

IF Elfsborg coach Anders Grönhagen is to stand down from his post at the end of the Swedish season in October.

'Many reasons'
"There are many reasons behind my decision," Grönhagen said. "Some of the things that I put high on my priority list have not worked out." Two weeks ago, Elfsborg's director of football Michael Ekberg left his post after criticism from Grönhagen's assistant Thomas Ahlström. Grönhagen said that had been a factor is his departure, although not a decisive one.

'Good job'
Elfsborg managing director Bengt Skans accepted Grönhagen's resignation saying: "Anders has done a good job and it is sad to see him leave, but he has made his mind up and now we will have to look for a replacement."

Relegation fears
Elfsborg currently occupy tenth position in the 14-team Swedish top flight with 22 points from 19 matches. However, Grönhagen's team are still involved in the Swedish Cup.
