Russia round-up: CSKA suffer setback

PFC CSKA Moskva saw their lead cut to four points after a 2-1 loss to bottom side FC Torpedo-Metallurg Moskva.

Former striker haunts CSKA
CSKA, whose UEFA Champions League campaign was ended in the second qualifying round by FK Vardar, saw their former striker Roman Monarev open the scoring on 20 minutes, and with the same amount of time left in the game Andrei Movsesyan made it 2-0. Substitute Artur Tlisov pulled one back with 13 minutes left, but there was no equaliser.

Saturn exploit chance
Second-placed FC Saturn Ramenskoye took full advantage of CSKA's stumble to narrow the gap to four points with a game in hand by beating FC Chernomorets Krasnodarskiy Kray 1-0. An own goal by Chernomorets newcomer Dmitry Smirnov with four minutes remaining handed Saturn their fourth straight win.

Dinamo derby win
FC Dynamo Moskva remain in touch in fourth place after a 3-2 Sunday victory against city rivals FC Spartak Moskva. Dynamo shot into a 2-0 lead on 18 minutes with goals from Taras Lucenko and Dmitri Bulikin. But Moisés pulled one back on 67 minutes and Yegor Titov levelled a quarter-hour later - only for Yevgeny Kharlachyov to strike a winner two minutes from time.

Rubin delight
FC Rubin Kazan are up into third place for the first time since their promotion, seven points behind CSKA, after overcoming SC Rotor Volgograd 1-0, while FC Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz stayed ahead of Torpedo-Metallurg by holding FC Krylya Sovetov Samara 1-1.

Lokomotiv held
In Saturday's other games, FC Shinnik Yaroslavl moved up to fifth with a 2-1 win at FC Zenit St. Peterburg and the next day champions FC Lokomotiv Moskva drew 1-1 with FC Rostov-na-Donuand to end the weekend in seventh.
