Russia round-up: CSKA hit back

Members

PFC CSKA Moskva brushed aside FC Krylya Sovetov Samara to remain in command.

Olic repayment
Croatia forward Ivica Olic, Russia's most expensive import after signing for €5.5m from NK Dinamo Zagreb last month, scored the first goal in the 33rd minute and set up Rolan Gusev's strike 20 minutes later. In between, CSKA captain Sergei Semak collected the second with a bicycle kick just before the break.

Timely relief
The triumph also provided timely relief for embattled coach Valeri Gazzaev, who resigned as Russia manager following a lacklustre 2-1 defeat by Israel in Wednesday's friendly in Moscow. Gazzaev's successor is expected to be named early this week.

Bulykin decisive
FC Dinamo Moskva beat Rotor Kamyshin 1-0 courtesy of a 90th-minute effort by Dmitry Bulykin to rack up a second successive last-minute win after edging city rivals FC Spartak Moskva 3-2 in last week's derby. It was Bulykin's ninth goal of the season.

Out of rut
FC Alania Vladikavkaz finally emerged from a club record 14-game winless streak to see off Torpedo-Metalurg 2-0 in an encounter between the bottom two sides. The win rekindled Alania's hopes of avoiding relegation as the 1995 champions moved within two points of the safety zone.

Kerzhakov hat-trick
FC Zenit St Peterburg, meanwhile, dispatched FC Uralan Elista 5-1 thanks in no small part to a hat-trick from Russia striker Alexander Kerzhakov and two further goals from under-21 international Andrei Arshavin.

Other games
On Saturday, Rubin earned a deserved 2-0 win against FC Spartak Moskva to move into second place for the first time, while FC Saturn Moskovskaya dropped to third, losing 2-1 to champions FC Lokomotiv Moskva.
